Proxomitron - ZXLIST GOING GOLD SOON

Eradicate web bugs, advertisements, cookies, malicious scripts (the list goes on), and enjoy privacy protection with Proxomitron as your browser's Local Proxy Engine. My complete review is found here at DSL Reports, and read my final comments on complete privacy control.

Online help information for the web and header filters found in ZXList is available here.

Scott Lemmon's very own un-modified web help files are now available with authorization on this site. When Scott updates those files, they will also be updated here. To access them, click here. To see related documents for these help files, click here.

The secret of Proxomitron?

September 11, 2001: Only Time (onlytime2.swf) Flash File (click to download zip).

ATTENTION: This movie is a very moving one and should be shared often. If you host it and want me to list you as a mirror, please email me (or Instant Message me at DSL Reports Screen Name Zhen-Xjell). I did not author this movie, at the end of it the author lists his email, I simply found the file.

GUEST BOOK

Please stay tuned, this website will evolve as I find the time to work on it. The old site with family pictures is now gone. I am seeking a new web presence. In the meantime, you can visit the guestbook.

TEAM HELIX

I founded Team Helix (found here: click me), whose purpose is to participate in both the Folding and Genome projects. These projects look for cures to such diseases as AIDS and Cancer via a distributed computing network client/server model. Our forum is found in the links section below.

PROGRAMMING

Under the new web layout with multiple pages, I'll dedicate this section to source code and programs done in C++ and Perl. Stay tuned.

PGP/GPG

Anything I release will be signed by me with both my GPG and PGP signatures, including an MD5 hash. My PGP User ID: 0x069F236A. My GPG User ID: 0x2781A264. Download my PGP Public key here, and GPG Public key here. If you check my files and find an invalid key, please do not use those files as they may have been altered. By my signing the files you know that they come directly from me and have not been modified in any way, so long as the signature is valid. To learn more about PGP or GPG, click here.

SECURITY/PRIVACY

Internet Explorer Content-Type and File Extension Vulnerability

Internet Explorer has a vulnerability where it will render pages as HTML even if the content-types and file extensions are not in HTML. I've put together a test bed of pages for you to see exactly what is going on. This issue has been known about for over two years, and has been mentioned in many articles and threads on the Internet. But what will Microsoft do to fix it? No other browsers are vulnerable.

Internet Explorer URL Vulnerability

The following test is for Internet Explorer, and not any other browser. If you have JavaScript enabled, then the following test will reveal to you information about any cookies you may have. Cookies typically go by their URL, so if you have visited Google's Search previously, you may have their cookie. Try entering some URLs you have been to first without the leading "www". If nothing shows, insert the "www". If this test fails, you either do not have such a cookie, you have JavaScript disabled, or your Internet Explorer is simply not vulnerable.

- HIT SUBMIT BUTTON -
 www. (I.E.: google.com)
[you must click the Submit button or the test will not run correctly]

My Personal Rings of Security

  • AdAware - Currently running the latest version and definitions, monitors for spyware.
  • BigFix - Monitors systems for file updates.
  • DCS TDS-3 - The premiere real-time most up-to-date anti-trojan suite.
  • GPG - Used for validating files with my signing key.
  • Grisoft AVG - Used for email scanning.
  • Innoculate IT PE - No longer available to new users. I use it for real-time anti-virus scanning.
  • Linksys - Four port NAT Router, provides Stealth status at the point of entry into my LAN. Currently running firmware 1.40.1, with one Zone Alarm Pro security authentication.
  • PGP - Email/system file protection/encryption and file signing.
  • Proxomitron Naoko 4.1 - Using my special default configuration for browser security/privacy.
  • Script Sentry - Monitors the system for script exectution.
  • WormGuard - Runs only when necessary, otherwise is not active. Monitors execution of worms/scripts.
  • Zone Alarm Pro - Firewall: Inbound and Outbound IP packet monitoring with MailSafe. Version 2.6.232, works in conjunction with Linksys Firmware 1.40.1.

Clearly these are the choices I elected to "secure" my home setup. I have tested other sets of applications and found the bulleted items fit my definition of security/privacy more comfortably.

Cipher Text

A couple different coding schemes are available to choose from. All can be accessed via this page. Currently, none are my original work, but I felt the need to have such handy since I use them. One is a Base64 / RADIX64 coder, and another is a coding scheme by key value.

Distributed Computing Projects

I have been a member of many Internet Distributed Computing Projects. The following links will take you to my membership for each (followed by links to the Team Stats in brackets). All teams are from DSL Reports.

What is Distributed Computing? Find out here.

  1. Folding@Home (Team) - This project has evolved into Folding@Home 2.
  2. Folding@Home 2 (Team) [What Am I?]
  3. Genome@Home (Team) [What Am I?]
  4. GIMPS - Mersenne - I am running this solo.
  5. RC5-64 (Team) [What Am I?]
  6. Seti@Home (Team) [What Am I?] - I have retired from this project.
  7. EcologyFund [What Am I?] - Project is Distributed Clicking, not Computing.
